About Us

The Clean Air South Air Quality Data Hub provides a shared platform for exploring and visualising air quality data from across Hampshire and the wider South of England. By bringing together data from multiple monitoring networks into a single, accessible resource, the hub aims to support researchers, local authorities, policymakers, and the public in understanding patterns of air pollution and their impacts on our environment and health. This website is the first step in an ongoing project that will continue to expand the available datasets and develop new tools for analysing and interpreting air quality data.

The project is led by Professor Christina Vanderwel at the University of Southampton and has been developed with the support of members of the Clean Air South network, part of the University's Sustainability and Resilience Institute.

The development of the website was supported by two talented student interns, Muhammad Ahmed, BEng Computer Science, and Chun Kee Tham (Tommy), MEng Mechanical Engineering, together with Dr Mathews George, Research Fellow specialising in time-series analysis of air quality data. We are also grateful to the University of Southampton iSolutions team for their guidance and technical support throughout the development of the platform. Together, these contributions have helped create an open and accessible resource that supports research, informs policy, and promotes a better understanding of air quality across the region.
